OUR APPROACH
Rather than treating the garden as something separate from the house, we designed the two to work together.
Gentle landforms were shaped to create movement through the space, while flowing granite sett pathways naturally guide you towards a circular seating area beneath the existing pine. Deadwood habitat, reclaimed timber and water bowls were carefully woven into the planting to support biodiversity and give the garden a sense of age from the very beginning.
Every detail was designed with the future in mind — a garden that establishes quickly but continues becoming richer and more characterful as the years pass.
THE PLANTING
Inspired by natural woodland communities.
The planting combines trees, shrubs, grasses and herbaceous perennials to create layers of texture, movement and seasonal interest.
Rather than relying on individual specimen plants, the garden has been designed as a living ecosystem that will knit together over time, providing beauty for people and habitat for wildlife.
THE OUTCOME
Although newly planted, the garden already feels established.
The mature pine has become the heart of the space, while the planting, natural materials and handcrafted stonework soften the modern architecture without competing with it. As the garden grows, it will continue to evolve into a richly layered landscape that feels increasingly connected to its surroundings.
It’s a garden designed not just for today, but for the decades ahead.
